Naomi Long MEP, studied civil engineering at Queen’s University, Belfast, and worked for almost 10 years in the industry.

Elected to Belfast City Council in 2001 and the Northern Ireland Assembly as MLA in 2003, she also served as Lord Mayor of Belfast from 2009 to 2010, at which point she became the first ever Alliance MP elected to Westminster in May 2010.

Deputy Leader of the Alliance Party since 2006, in May 2016, she was reelected to the Northern Ireland Assembly as MLA, before becoming Leader of Alliance that October.

As Leader she has presided over some of the parties best ever election results and in May 2019 became the first ever Alliance member to be elected to the European Parliament.
